Put the responsibility on the owners and educate!

(Richmond , 2017-04-16)

#203

No breed should be banned. Educate, training and responsible ownership.

(Kirkland , 2017-04-16)

#204

BSL is NOT affective. There are so many sweet dogs punished. Pass a legislation on responsible dog ownership instead!

(Cold Lake, 2017-04-16)

Breed bans are an inefficient and unjust way to promote public safety.

There's a town near me that's very Pit Bull friendly, despite the breed ban. Every Pit Bull I've ever met in this town has been a lovable, cuddly, smiley lap dog. My job requires me to enter people's homes and I've never had a problem with a Pitty OR a Rottie. The dogs that have tried to bite me were all little dogs and one poorly socialized Great Pyrenees. You shouldn't judge a book by its cover or by what some bad people have done with the breed. Let's also review the case that started this circus...the boxer mix that killed that lady. Or how about the golden retriever that killed a child while the father slept. Or the huskies, labs, malamutes, shepherds, etc that have killed people? Don't use Dogsbite.org as a source for your propaganda. They have been proven to fabricate stats to suit their agenda. Many cities are dropping the breed bans because they don't work. Why would you go against the advice of experts and implement a law that doesn't work?? Talk to experts! Talk to vets! Talk to behaviourists! Talk to the SPCA!! Bans don't work!

All dogs should be able to live life to the fullest. ALL DOGS

(Halton Hills, 2017-04-16)

#221

You are blaming the wrong end of the leash.

(Oshawa, 2017-04-16)

#224

These are dogs, not alligators. Owners need to be held accountable. ( FYI: The dog who killed the woman in quebec that instigated the media frenzy was a boxer.) Irresponsible media and politicians are what have caused this ill informed "pit bull" hysteria and now pets/companions/therapy dogs will pay the price.

(Rocky Mountain House, 2017-04-16)

It's not the breed. No ban of a specific breed will ever ensure less dog bites. It's the people who are at fault. Never the dog

(Toronto , 2017-04-16)

#230

Dangerous dogs cannot be determined by breed. This proposed ban is unscientific and unsubstantiated.

(Port Colborne, 2017-04-16)

#231

I'm signing because we should be changing legislation to who can own and dog not what kind of dog we own. These dogs are not agressing based on breed it is the owner so they should be the ones banned not the dogs.

(Ridgeway, 2017-04-16)

#233

Because its discrimination agaist all kinds of breeds! And there are good dogs in those breeds too!

(Stornoway, 2017-04-16)

It is beyond believe that humans can be so heartless

(Centennial, 2017-04-16)

This ban is wrong on all levels. You can't ban dogs based on a stereotype. Killing innocent dogs is wrong. Killing wonderful pets is wrong. Stop this madness

(Surrey , 2017-04-16)

Laws are created by people who have no interest and knowledge about animals. You do not fix a problem by putting a bandage on it, you have to look for the source if you want to handle a problem. I am disgussed by people who are banding dogs because of a breed. Any animal come like humans innocent to this world and it only the human beings who are responsible of how the animals turns out later AND NOT THE ANIMAL ITSELF so you should take a very deep look into the owner to fix the problem, but again politicians have no interest of getting involved of the real cause it is so much easier to just to put a ban on innocent animals, SO VERY VERY SAD THAT POLITICIANS AGAIN CHOSE THE EASY WAY OUT WITHOUT SOLVNG THE ACTUAL PROBLEM, SHAME ON ALL OF YOU!!!!!!!!!

I've had pit bulls all my life. Best & sweetest breed out there ❤

(Port Colborne , 2017-04-16)

#242

Pathetic law relying on nothing but fear mongering.

(Halifax, 2017-04-16)

A dog is a dog. Breed is irrelevant. The only way to reduce bites is public education on proper training & handling methods. Stop wasting time and government expenses on the wrong outlets and let's move forward as a country to make well-informed decisions based on facts rather than emotions and pointing fingers at the wrong end of the leash.

(Woolwich, 2017-04-16)

#250

This is just plain wrong. Canine genocide and disregarding all experts and science.
No room for such ignorant and stupid politicians.

(Baie D'urfe, 2017-04-16)

#251

Any dog can bite. It is the deed not the breed

(Chatham, 2017-04-16)

#253

The idea that a specific dog breed is more dangerous than any other is ludicrous. Look at Ontario -- have dog bite rates gone down since their BSL? No. Bad/ignorant owners are always going to be around. Create legislation that punishes negligent owners. A German Shepard or Chihuahua or dachshund are just as likely to attach another dog or person.

(Vancouver, 2017-04-16)

#257

Humans are worse than pitbulls

(Montreal, 2017-04-16)

#267

You can not predict behaviour of dog based on appearance. All dogs are individuals. Onus must lie on the owner. Responsible ownership, education, penalties for irresponsible owners is the way to go. Completely unfair to target a breed of dog and completely ineffective. Please consider the Calgary model instead.

(Toronto, 2017-04-17)

#273

Breed Specific legislation is prejudiced. It sounds exactly like Hitler trying to exterminate the Jewish race, except this is trying to exterminate a breed or breeds of dog or cross thereof, or any dog trained to protect or guard...which could be ANY BREED OF DOG AT ALL...not even remotely fair.

(Ethel, 2017-04-17)

#285

I've had this breed for yrs and been fighting it for yrs against this BSL, it's all wrong

(Elginburg , 2017-04-17)

#286

I'm signing because breed specific legislation is ridiculous.

(Vulcan, 2017-04-17)

#289

BSL is purely unjustified. You can't ban a something based on breed! Is like banning Muslim cuz they are marked as terrorist

(Laval, 2017-04-17)

#291

We need to stop blaming the dogs and start looking at the real problem which is the people who have these dogs. How they are treated and the individual circumstances around each incident not lumping them altogether. We don't do that with people so we need to treat the animals with the same understanding

(Toronto , 2017-04-17)

#305

Here in Italy we had BSL for some years. But it did not work and did not reduce bites. Lack common sence and just wasting the money. And it was lifted.

(Como, 2017-04-17)

#309

I am opposed to BSL Legislation! Especially when it is based on phony stats and not on any REAL statistics.

(Stratford, 2017-04-18)

#315

PIT BULLS ARE NOT DANGEROUS!!!!!

(SPRING VALLEY, 2017-04-18)

#317

We as humans need to respect all forms of life. To kill is not a an answer. Look outside of the problem.

(Merrillville , 2017-04-19)

#318

(Montreal, 2017-04-20)

C'est aberrant et illogique !
